How to pedal on my bmx bike with less force?

what do I have to do to make my bmx bike pedal with less force? I can pedal lighter and faster with my friend's bmx bike. But when I ride mine i have to put more force. What parts do I have to change for it to be lighter and easier to pedal on my bike? How to pedal on my bmx bike with less force?well if your talking about when your standing (im guessing not sitting like the previous answer, as this concerns bmx bikes, not mountain and its best to have your seat low as possible) chang your sprocket or your driver. the sprocket will be much cheaper to change. lets say you have a 32 tooth sprocket and a 13 tooth driver/freewheel. i would suggest getting a smaller sprocket such as 30 tooth or 29 teeth. this would change the pedaling resistance making it easier to pedal but slower top speed.

the reason this works is how many revolutions of the driver per revolution of the sprocket. ex

32-13 lets just say per 1 revolution of the sprocket you get 3 revolutions of the driver. this is harder to do, because your using 1 revolution of the sprocket to get 3 of the driver. so your getting a ratio of 1:3

but with say 30-13 you might get per 2 revolutions of the sprocket get 3 revolutions of the driver. this is easier to do because it takes longer for the 3 revolutions of the driver. so a ratio of 2:3

its either shorter and harder pedals

or longer and easier pedals.

this is why bikes that you ride more than a mile - have gears
